Cisco has a market cap of $201B. They had a net income of $9.6B in 2017. The money they spent for Duo is, relatively speaking, a small capital outlay. It's one Quarter's net income. I am willing to make the argument that Cisco sees SFOR's lawsuit as an opportunity. They can buy Duo, come in a settle with SFOR, give SFOR a licensing fee, and gain access to SFOR's tech. It sets the stage for an even larger agreement between Cisco and McAfee to create some gigantic cyber security company, like the one mentioned in that one article I saw on this board (I can't rember who posted it) that said all these smaller cyber security companies are eventually going to be condensed into 5 or 6 or 7 HUGE companies in the near future. You have to keep in the back of your mind how incestuous this particular industry is. I'm sure there are decision makers at Cisco who used to work at Microsoft who have dealt with SFOR in the past, and they know an opportunity when they see one. All of this is total speculation on my part, and I might be totally naive, but I fail to see any negative implication of Cisco buying Duo. We know SFOR has the money and the legal backing of serious big hitters in the industry, so Cisco is not going to fuck with SFOR once they see SA go down in flames in the Fed. Cir. If anything, this deepens the pocket into which SFOR can reach when we settle with DUO, which by that time will effectively be Cisco. And $9MM is NOT going to be the number Mark Kay accepts this time around. There will have to be a few more zeros after that 9, or Mark will laugh in their faces.
