If Facebook's new standards pertained on this Board then one poster in particular, and several others, would receive a similar 'time out' for exactly the same reasons that Alex Ass-Hat Jones is receiving one.
Social media giant Facebook announced last week that conspiracy theorist and serial misinformer Alex Jones had been temporarily banned from publishing on the platform and four of his videos were removed.
Administrators of InfoWars.com, his media company, can still post on Facebook, but Jones won’t be able to do so for 30 days.
Although his stock-in-trade is politically charged misinformation (Jones has been sued by the parents of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre for claiming the shootings were faked), the posts that got him in trouble on Facebook had been flagged for hate speech and bullying.
Facebook itself has come under media scrutiny of late for taking a hands-off approach to high-profile trolls like Jones, even as company executives touted their resolve to fight “fake news.”
