I’m finishing watching it now. Dude is smart! As for Jason and Utopya it’s nice that they have vision and dreams, but vision and dreams don’t pay the bills.
George Hotz says in his interview that big companies like Ford are only in it to make money and his company isnt necessarily there to do just that but to also essentially make the world better (sound familiar?).
Anyways Hotz still has a company that is generating revenue and is working on a product that will generate tons of revenue. Difference between him and the competition is that he is selling it for a lot less. But the company will still be successful because they are putting their vision into a reality and making a great product much cheaper then the competition because they can and still be profitable.
I understand Utopya is technically only 8 months old, but I think we can all agree they have been working on this project much longer then eight months and so far we have seen close to nothing (One Odyssey video with limited specs). Deadlines were also set and at this point have not really been met. George and his company are private, so they do not have to answer to shareholders, UTOPYA is a public company, so in that sense, they need to be cognizant of us and our concerns.
The inspiration and desire to be great appears to be there, but until we get some information on the products (software/phones/whatever else) this to me is just continued fluff. I hope we look back one day at all these tweets and posts and say to ourselves, “man I’m glad I stuck through the hard times and took all those hints the company dropped and kept buying” while sitting on a beach drinking margaritas. I hope it’s not all fluff. I hope it’s the real deal. We’ve all done the DD and all we can do is wait and hope for the best. Hopefully their dreams/vision is similar to George’s and their product blows people away like they seem to think it would. Time will tell.
On a further note I think if by some rare chance (don’t hate me now for being a realist because nothing in life is certain) we have all been duped and this thing never materializes into anything, that we still get together for a sorrow party. Cheap well drinks and ordering off the sandwich/app part of the menu instead of the steak section for everyone! I still think it would be good to put a faces/names together! Just a suggestion!
