I do agree that they should be prepared to debunk

I do agree that they should be prepared to debunk non-factual comments by confused and/or malicious clowns, but remember, this was a news segment pieced together by one or more news journalists from separately recorded clips. Michael Welch wasn't sitting at a table across from this woman, and most likely didn't see the finished segment until it ran.
