ACBSP Installs its First Board Chair From Latin Am

OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA, July 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Alejandro Jose Cheyne Garcia, Dean – School of Business, Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia, has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org , the only global accrediting body to accredit business, accounting, and business-related programs at all degree levels. He is the first member affiliated with a university from Latin America to assume the office of Chair. The announcement was made at the ACBSP Annual Conference, held June 8-11 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Cheyne began his one-year term at the conclusion of that conference.
Dr. Cheyne has been instrumental in building awareness of ACBSP accreditation among business schools across Latin America for more than a decade. The helped establish the Latin American Council for Business Schools and Programs – ACBSP Region 9 in 2009, and served as the region’s secretary, vice present and president. He led the accreditation teams at two universities with which he was affiliated, the first was Uniempresarial – Fundacion Universitaria Empresarial, with business programs accredited by ACBSP in 2013, and most recently Universidad del Rosario, with business programs accredited by ACBSP in 2017. Dr. Cheyne has also been actively involved at the international level as well, serving on the ACBSP Strategic Planning Committee and serving as mentor and evaluator to many campuses pursuing accreditation through ACBSP.

Alejandro Cheyne holds a doctorate degree in pedagogy and studies in international management and business administration. He is considered one of the most important professors in higher education programs in Colombia. He is an Economist from Universidad del Rosario and he has developed a career around leadership and entrepreneurship. He is currently President of the Business Process Outsourcing, Knowledge Process Outsourcing and Information Technology Outsourcing Board in Colombia and Chair of the ACBSP Board of Directors.
