Excuse me for saying this, but is it just me that

So let me get this straight, he says "before we understand science, we believe that God created the universe, but now science gives us a more convincing explanation". In other words, he's saying God DIDN'T create our universe, but science shows us what did (still gotta see that science). That's the conclusion that I get from here.
Then he goes on to say "I believe the universe is governed by the laws of science....The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws.” So now all of a sudden, God made the rules of the universe, but he didn't create the universe??? Is this guy confused, or did you just misquote him? Does he believe or not that God exists?
If a person invents a sport, he will also make the rules by which it can be played. If an engineer designs a car, he will also write the instruction manual. You don't get to make the rules for a sport that was someone else's invention. Yes God DID make the rules, because He created the universe. That belief isn't an easy way out, a way to not have to explain with science to our children what really happened. It is simply the truth.
And no offence to Stephen Hawkins, but just because a person has a slightly higher IQ or knows a lot about science, doesn't mean he will stop believing in God because now he has a better explanation. There are a lot of brilliant scientists and people with high IQ that are wholehearted believers in God. Apparently science was unable to convince them.
And yes, I know this isn't really about OWCP, but hey, with the lull that we have going on here, and hardly anything new to talk about regarding OWCP, we can divert a little, can't we?
