It could be possible that the UTOP devices connected via (any means) may be able to be used as a distributed computing system incorporating cloud quantum computing. This would I can only imagine drain battery life from the devices. Let’s say if you participate in the “program/project and got a discount on your monthly service charge. I would leave my phone plugged in more if I could get my cell phone bill down that’s for sure. Back in the day when the PS3 came out I freely donated use of power and ran my PS3 almost 24/7 to run Folding@home that was a distributed computing project run by a university to help them make breakthroughs on things like cancer and azltimers etc.. by creating a “super computer” using the available processing power from the PS3’s. Who the heck knows (besides the UTOP team) there are so many aspects that lead to so many possibilities. But then again it could all just be a dream as the bashers would like to help us realize... LOL
Then there is always the good old (new Blockchain)
Whoa (I haven’t read all of this yet either)
5/1/2018 If quantum computers threaten blockchains, quantum blockchains could be the defense:

Here is an old (1/11/2017) article about quantum computing (I have not had a chance to read the whole thing yet) note the names IBM, LOCKHEED. And a company called D-Wave (out of Canada) who had created an open source means.
