I can't remember what book this is from but I think it was one of Bruce Catton's books. After the capture of Harper's Ferry, Gen. Jackson was riding through the area. Some Union prisoners of war were watching and one said of Jackson, "He sure doesn't look like much" to which one of his fellow prisoners of war responded, "Maybe so, but if he were ours we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now".
Little Mac had every advantage possible and could easily have crushed Lee's army.
