- The Monterrey (+9.0%), Culiacán (+24.0%), and Ciudad Juárez (+18.9%) airports contributed most to traffic growth
MONTERREY, Mexico, July 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ: OMAB ) (BMV: OMA ), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 9.1% in June 2018, as compared to June 2017. Domestic traffic increased 9.9%, and international traffic increased 3.2%.

During June 2018, domestic traffic increased in ten airports, with the largest increases in:
- Monterrey (+10.3%; +76,253 passengers), with 50% of total domestic traffic, increased traffic principally because of higher volumes on the Cancún, Mexico City, Tijuana, Guadalajara, Mexicali, and Veracruz routes.
- Culiacán (+23.7%; +35,021) increased passenger traffic on its Tijuana, Guadalajara, Mexicali, and La Paz routes.
- Ciudad Juárez (+18.6%; +19,849) increased traffic on its Guadalajara, Cancún, and Monterrey routes.
In June, TAR opened the Ciudad Juárez – Mazatlán, Mazatlán – Ciudad Juárez, Mazatlán – Hermosillo, Tampico – Querétaro, Torreón – Guadalajara, and Zacatecas – Guadalajara routes; and VivaAerobus opened the Monterrey – Huatulco, Monterrey – La Paz, and Torreón – Cancún routes.
International traffic grew in ten airports in June. Aeroméxico started flying the Monterrey-Orlando route during the month.
Of total passenger traffic, 99.0% was commercial, and 1.0% was general aviation.
