I believe many Christians are in favor of cannabis

A Dr. friend of mine who was around at the time abortions were legalized recently indicated that it was hard to believe how many fewer cases were coming into the E.R. once abortions by coat hangers in unsterile conditions stopped. I'm frankly sickened by those who'd like to impose it again. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big advocate of doing it, but I do believe in choice, and without a choice to do it properly in a medical setting, it will still be done by those who make the choice.
I believe all the evidence supports legalizing recreational cannabis and I wonder how many are currently in jail for no more than its possession. Certainly people need to be held responsible for their acts, and someone who causes a problem under the influence needs to be held responsible, just as those who do it with alcohol are. From all I've read it's less dangerous than alcohol, and certainly less likely to cause problems medically than tobacco, but they're already legal, it's tough to take that status away. I believe that certain conditions almost certainly benefit from the use of components found in cannabis, and over time more specific products will be developed for using it, and far fewer people will smoke it. I think OWCP is among the leaders in developing specific formulations of cannabis, and for many I believe our sublingual tablet will prove to be a great solution to their problems.
I frankly hate it when any religion stands in the way of progress. I'm benefitting from a transfusion of adult stem cells which is working well, but I wonder if decades ago more experimentation had been permitted with placental stem cells if curing my form of leukemia, and many others wouldn't be far more simple. Most of the resistance to such development has diminished as more is learned about stem cells, but places like Israel are leading in the research, like they are in cannabis, because religion stalled development here in the U.S.
On the Fourth of July we should celebrate our freedom, which includes the freedom of religion, but it shouldn't have religious freedom shut down medical and scientific advancement.
Happy Fourth of July,
Gary
