You can look at the history of our competition and clearly see that the monster companies squeeze them for every advantage, and today they are no further ahead than before. Resisting that trap, IMO, has been a heroic feat considering all the pressure on him to act and all the tribulations you mention in your post.
If you think this is our darkest hour, it is a misperception, because QMC has shown resiliency, to bend but not break, to change course when needed, with eyes fixed on the far star, ready to meet the challenges ahead.
