I'd be willing to bet E and M feel like that eight-item pipeline can be viewed as something like their own children.  You just don't put the whole family up for adoption to make a buck.  Each one will have it's own story.  At their age (not so far from my own) having your name known for medical greatness, besides making a bundle, would be pretty rewarding all on its own.
