LivingHomes Receives Honor at 48th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards

LOS ANGELES, June 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LivingHomes , the design subsidiary of Rialto-based builder Plant Prefab , was honored at the 48 th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) on June 1 at the Beverly Hilton.

LivingHomes, received the 2018 Award of Excellence in the Housing category , honoring its Custom LivingHome project for outstanding architecture and design that significantly enhances the Los Angeles community’s urban environment.

The LivingHome project, which was featured on last month’s cover of Dwell magazine, was designed for Will Arnett, star of Arrested Development, LEGO Batman, Flaked, and other film and television shows. The 3,975-square-foot L-shaped steel-frame house features four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, a kitchen/dining area, living room, a glass staircase tower and guest wing. The house is comprised of six modules that were built off-site in parallel to the site work, dramatically reducing the total construction period.

“We’re honored to have received this award from the LA Business Council,” said LivingHomes CEO Steve Glenn. “From higher end custom homes, like Will Arnett’s to the smaller, more affordable units we’ve built for non-profits like Make It Right, we’re able to build a variety of homes faster and with less cost and waste than is possible with traditional, site-based construction.”

The luncheon was attended by over 600 leading architects, designers, building owners, developers and city officials, and featured international delegations from Mexico City, Auckland, New Zealand and Guangzhou, China.

This year, 54 projects received award, with projects ranging from brick and mortar retail transformed into creative office environments, to mixed-use developments and the tallest new building west of the Mississippi. Over 275 submissions were made within the 23 design categories.
