A former beauty pageant winner slammed The Miss America Organization for dropping the popular swimsuit competition from its broadcast.
Madison Gesiotto, who was named Miss Ohio USA in 2014, said that the decision to remove the competition is "ridiculous."
"Of course outward beauty is not as important as inner beauty, but at the same time it doesn't mean that outer beauty can't exist," she said.
Former Miss America Gretchen Carlson, who heads the organization's board of trustees, announced the decision Tuesday on "Good Morning America."
Judge Jeanine on Samantha Bee's Rant: 'I've Never Seen Such Intolerant Haters!'
"We're not going to judge you on your appearance because we are interested in what makes you you," Carlson said.
The changes to the competition will start with this year's broadcast in September.
Gesiotto said she "can't keep up" with the "MeToo" feminist movement's relationship with Miss America.
"The first thing they were saying is that women should be empowered, able to wear whatever they want. Now all of a sudden, women should not be able to wear whatever they want?" she said.
"It's ridiculous. They're totally off-base, they make no sense and I don't think they're really making [a] positive impact on the "MeToo" movement with this ridiculousness."
