$NOV National Oilwell Varco (NYSE:NOV) agrees to acquire Dutch offshore rig design and engineering company GustoMSC; financial details are not provided, but GustoMSC was sold in 2012 for ~$185M to Dutch P-E firm Parcom Capital.
NOV says the deal allows it to expand and further vertically integrate its offshore rig business now that oil prices are healthier and the languishing deepwater energy sector is showing signs of life.
Energy consultant Rystad Energy has called GustoMSC one of the world's premier rig design companies.
