In my professional opinion, any civilian company that is able to offer a "probe-and-drogue" refueling capability to the USN/USMC and NATO allies - thereby releasing more of the dwindling / ageing USAF primarily "flying boom" tanker fleet from those tasks - will have no problem getting year-on-year contracts for the next 10 > 20 years.
The KC-46 problems have to be resolved and 179 aircraft produced.
The 58-aircraft KC-10 fleet is being retired (comparable capacity to the TMPS Tristars).
A 300-aircraft KC-135 fleet (built 1955 > 1965) will remain in service until 2040-2050 - from under 400 aircraft now and 800+ originally - with downtime for ongoing significant upgrades through to 2024.
