The below was sent to me, I wish to share this small part of the email. There are many things that allow me to trade stocks and enjoy the ocean, so to all the families of the service members who died defending our country, I salute you:
Tomorrow is Memorial Day, and a special day for me. I do not know why my name is not on the Wall in DC along with the other 58,318 names. I thank God I was spared to raise my family. Make no mistake; I do not diminish the sacrifice of any other veteran KIA in any other conflict. However, I am a Vietnam veteran.
Only by the grace of God am I here writing to you. Only by the grace of God am I grilling some brats and hoisting a beer or two to my fallen brethren. I ask you to have a brat or a whatever, and hoist a beer (or whatever), in honor of the 53,310 brothers and the eight sisters (all nurses) who died in Vietnam. None of them took a knee all, of them served their country.
The height of the war was in 1968, during the Tet offensive, I was there …
So while we are all out having a great time, please think of all the people who died so we can enjoy this day.
