2018 Taiwan International Balloon Festival Set to Fly High from June 30 to August 13

Taitung, Taiwan, May 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The annual 8^th Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held at Luye Highland from June 30 to August 13 for forty-five days. In addition, this year’s festival aims to break a new record with the highest number of balloons showing up together. Night glow concerts will add to the festivities at the traditional venues, including Sanxiantai, Chishang’s Dapo Lake, Taimali Aurora Park, and Zhiben Hot Spring Area. This year will be the first time that a night glow concert will take place at the Library and Information Center located on the main campus of National Taitung University, which was voted for as one of the top 8 of the most beautiful libraries in the world. Every visitor will be able to immerse in the atmosphere of literary connoisseur and romance. Adding to the excitement of the night glow concert held at the Zhihang Air Force Base in 2013, the cooperation continues this year with it being held there again. Attendees can witness ambitious commissioned fighters of the military posing with the gorgeous hot air balloons. The 2018 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival is set to hold 8 night glow live concerts in total. Be sure not to miss any of them with their splendidness and diversity.

This year’s 2018 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival will trigger lively discussions, as it will boast a record thirty-nine special shape balloons. We especially invited dozens of popular hot air balloons from all over the world, with themes ranging from The Minions , Up , Royal Elephant , Orient Express , and The Three Little Bees . Traditional balloons will also take to the skies during this year’s activities, such as Noah’s Ark , Tony the Tiger and British Soldier, and will create many more memories with us. In addition, to celebrate the Year of the Dog, we invited an English bulldog special shape balloon to spread out happiness during the 2018 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Its appearance will mark its debut out to the world. Be sure not to miss the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s mascot OhBear and PX-Mart’s One Two Bear .

Over the years, tethered balloon rides and special shape hot air balloons have always been the highlight of the Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Flying into the sky has always been the instinct of adventurous people, and tethered balloon rides can not only provide a magnificent view of the beauty of Luye Highland, but also give passengers a bird’s eye view of the East Rift Valley. Moreover, it gives people full-hearted satisfaction with their eagerness for flying. Every year, it is difficult to obtain tethered balloon ride tickets as they are highly coveted. Taitung County government warmly reminds everyone that tethered balloon ride activities are divided into two periods, namely in the morning, and in the afternoon. The times are 05:30 - 07:00 in the morning and 17:00 - 19:00 in the afternoon respectively. The activities of the 2018 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival promise to be more diverse. In addition to tethered balloon rides and hot air balloon flights, night glow concerts will add to the atmosphere and festivities of the event. Bring your sunglasses, umbrella and picnic mat, and let’s share food and the live music.
