No doubt that this is OPL' worst Q in 4 years , $43k WTF?!
That was a shock to the system, but now that emotions of indignation & frustration are subsiding we have to look at the positives as well, like the 4.6MW tracker deal & the $2 Mil backlog for 2012, and the new secured orders, which will make about the same, if not more total revenue than they had in 2011. + we're getting closer to some major POET announcements. So as a long term investor I'm still confident that OPL/POET will be our cash cow in the future. Remember that TCA saw what OPL have for the months ahead, otherwise there would never been an agreement with them! That gives me reassurance that the next Q's will be much better, well they can't get much worse either, lol. Now, for the moment there is not much to be excited about if you look at the cash burn rate and thighter solar margins, but with the $5 mil LOC and and the PP for $3 mil (= 14% dilution) I'm sure that OPL will have sufficient recources to survive 2012 and create a bridge until a major military contractor signs a lucrative deal with OPL.
- In January 2012, OPEL supplied 4.6MW of its TF-850 utility grade solar tracking systems to Global Energy
Services for installation on two California sites being developed by Gestamp Solar, a leading developer of utility scale solar projects.
- OPEL’s planned refocusing from HCPV to its solar tracking systems, announced last June continue as expected during the quarter. Purchase orders totaling over $2M were received creating a backlog to be deployed later this year.
- In March 2012, ODIS announced significant progress, made during the first quarter, regarding POET as it
pertains to its advancements in Optical Interconnection of High Speed Circuits as outlined in a White
Paper/Roadmap posted on the ODIS website <www.odis.com>. These achievements, when successfully added
to the POET platform under development, will make it possible for the first time to implement an optical
interface as a single chip to connect existing CMOS processors. The advancements are significant and ongoing steps in the POET technology development and have made it possible to produce a well defined military and commercial Roadmap for POET.
- New orders were secured to be delivered in later quarters as well as follow-on SBIR funding.
