'Utterly Pathetic': Kurtz Slams Daily News for Cover Bashing Ivanka Trump

Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz criticized the New York Daily News for its cover that dubbed Ivanka Trump "Daddy's Little Ghoul" and juxtaposed her happiness against the deaths of Palestinians.

The cover featured a photo of the first daughter smiling in front of a plaque commemorating the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.

A smaller photo showed a dead or severely injured Palestinian man shot by Israeli soldiers in a protest near the border.

"I find that cover to be utterly pathetic," Kurtz said. "We know that the Daily News hates President Trump, hates Jared [Kushner] and Ivanka."

The White House said that terrorist group Hamas "bears responsibility" for the violence, which left at least 58 dead and more than 2,700 injured.

Kurtz said the violence was "clearly" precipitated by Hamas, but media outlets make it look like Israel was responsible.

"It is incumbent on journalists to point this out, that this was a confrontation that Hamas wanted," he said.

"It sounds counter-intuitive. [Hamas] wants casualties because it helps paint Israel as some kind of military thuggish nation."
