UBM Fashion’s [pre]COTERIE Debuts in June; Welcomes CFDA & Latin American Brands to the Premiere Fashion Event

NEW YORK, May 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aligning with the needs of the fashion industry, UBM Fashion has designed a new seasonal show, [pre]COTERIE, which brings a focused and purposeful perspective to the ever-evolving fashion retail landscape.

Launching June 10-12, 2018 at the Javits Center, New York, UBM Fashion’s [pre]COTERIE will feature premium women’s apparel and accessories in beautifully designed and expertly merchandised neighborhoods covering resort, international women’s wear, designer accessories and fine jewelry, swim and active.

The debut marketplace marks UBM Fashion’s response to the dynamic buying seasons, and it represents an opportunity for American designers to present pre-collections with exposure to a strong contingent of international and domestic retailers. This will mark a key and growing buying period for the New York market place.

[pre]COTERIE has been designed to fit perfectly into the key fashion month of June, globally and in New York. It will act as a kickoff event for the international fashion event circuit segueing into the June Milan and Paris fashion shows.

“Leaning on over 30 years as the leading US women’s wear event, COTERIE understands the importance of launching a pre-collection platform (also known as Resort, Spring 1 or Holiday) as there has been an increasing demand for delivery at the elevated portion of the market,” said UBM Fashion Director and Vice-President, Danielle Licata. “[pre]COTERIE was conceived to bring together the top global brands and retailers in an intimate and experiential setting.”

The launch of [pre]Coterie is part of the significant re-structuring of the New York fashion trade event calendar that UBM Fashion announced in October of last year.

Mike Alic, Managing Director of UBM Fashion emphasizes, "Many fashion brands will be activating their New York showrooms during this time period and [pre]Coterie also runs during the same market period as the CFDA Fashion Awards, the Accessories Council ACE Awards, and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York June Market Week. New York’s fashion industry and scene will certainly be going full speed with [pre]COTERIE at its center."

[pre]COTERIE includes a fresh and global perspective on women’s contemporary fashion with a collection of high-end brands from Latin America, including Brazilian brands Charmosa, SKAZI, Adriana Degreas and more.  In addition, iconic Cartagena shopping destination, St. Dom, has curated a selection of Colombian swim and resort brands, including Oropendola, Baletti, Renata Lozano, Moda Zeta, Lobo Rosa and more.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has partnered with [pre]COTERIE in inviting a grouping of established and visionary designers. Featured CFDA designers include Becca McCharen-Tran’s Chromat, Yeohlee, Cynthia Rowley and Grey Jason Wu .

[Pre]COTERIE is proud to welcome for the first time acclaimed knitwear designer, Victor Glemaud and New York-based designer Frederick Anderson.

Launched in February 2017, The COTERIE Experience returns on a grander scale for the debut of [pre]COTERIE. Floor-to-ceiling art installations and immersive displays that combine branded content with inspiring décor will transport buyers and press. The themes of growth, change, and disruption are conveyed via butterflies and vibrant exploding florals.

Neighborhoods represented on the [pre]Coterie floor will include:

  • BEAUTY: Beauty and apothecary items and brands, available wholesale and retail. A central marketplace for innovation, indulgence, self-care, and fun, with refreshing items that augment store experience. Brands include Immunocologie, Zero Gravity Skin among others
