Health Foundation of South Florida Promotes Janisse Schoepp Ph.D. to Vice President of Operations and Strategy

Miami, FL, May 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Health Foundation of South Florida, the largest philanthropy dedicated to improving health in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, announced the promotion of Janisse Schoepp, Ph.D. to Vice President of Operations and Strategy. Dr. Schoepp, who joined the Foundation in 2004, will ensure that the Foundation is well positioned to achieve its strategic goals through enhancing operational efficiency and profitability as well as identifiying and leading an impact investment strategy focused on revenue generation.

According to Health Foundation of South Florida President & CEO Steven Marcus, E.D., “Janisse is an instrumental in guiding the Foundation’s work to improve the health and economic well-being of our local communities. He added, “She led the way to our Community Building and Economic Prosperity Initiative, which engages anchor institutions in community wealth building strategies to address social determinants of health and provides oversight for investments focused on health promotion, disease prevention and building healthy eating active communities.”

Dr. Schoepp works with Foundation Board members, staff and community partners in exploring and implementing evidence-based and emerging practices to improve community health in South Florida. She also develops an annual policy agenda and seeks opportunities to integrate policy and advocacy efforts into the programmatic and grant making activities of the Foundation.

A recognized leader with over 15 years of public health experience, Dr. Schoepp’s accomplishments include working with local health agencies and securing over $20 million in federal funds to target obesity and other chronic diseases through a collective impact framework.

Among her awards and recognition is being selected in 2012 as a fellow of the Terrance Keenan Institute for Emerging Leaders in Health Philanthropy founded by Grantmakers in Health. In June, Dr. Schoepp will be part of a ten-member team from Miami selected to participate in the Young American Leaders program at Harvard Business School.

Prior to her position at Health Foundation, Dr. Schoepp worked at the Stempel School of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University where she led a federally funded childhood lead poisoning prevention project in inner-city neighborhoods.
