On-line impersonation is now a crime which can lead to jail time and with attorneys specializing in it gaining $6-figure settlements for victims if any harm is done financially or to a reputation.
As an OTC market alerter / commentator on Twitter, I was impersonated by an iHub basher trying to make out I was no longer in support of a particular stock - didn't do him any good as he had only 3 followers (all bashers !) so nobody that mattered saw his nonsense comments. Initially, Twitter refused to shut the impersonation account down until I gave them chapter and verse on the new laws and they then suspended the fake account immediately.
The moron basher then created another account (not impersonation but not his real name either) and by matching up incorrect broken English, the form of words used and his pumping of a no hope stock, it was possible to positively identify which of 2 iHub basher suspects it was. I'll be holding that over him going forward as I kept digital copies of his diametrically opposed posts to mine from the suspended account.
