Does MELT Organic’s coconut oil supplier enslave monkeys to pick coconuts?

http://www.meltorganic.com/our-products/faqs/

This is one of those questions where you just rub your temples and look to see if it’s 5:00 pm yet.

Same effect on me from reading NWO, DEW, 'false flag' laden conspiracy theorizn' on this board and on that 'other board'.

The answer is, of course, no. We do not know of any third party verification that ensures monkey laborers are not being enslaved. Unfortunately, until such certification exists you will have to take us at our word, the word of our suppliers and trust the other 3rd party certifications that we have.

Prosperity Organic Foods (MELT) is proud to be a Certified B Corporation, one that meets the highest global standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Though, B Corp certification does not specifically preclude using monkey labor, the fact that we have received this certification for meeting “the highest global standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency” makes it highly unlikely that we would include enslaving monkeys as a best practice.

Our Fair for Life Fair Trade certification is also relevant because it relates to the treatment of the human workers who harvest the coconuts for our suppliers. Our supplier goes to great lengths to ensure that these laborers have safe working conditions and are paid fair wages. Additionally, our supplier builds schools and pays for these laborers and their children to attend –

This, of course, would be a ridiculous, superfluous, and pointless expense if they were forcing monkeys to do the work.
