ONCI About our products... Last year, I demo'd
Post# of 40989
Last year, I demo'd Fleetsafer for my business and started using bSafeMobile in my personal vehicles.
There's lots of discussion here about the 'product' that currently seems to be ONCI's bread and butter. Here's what I've learned from the last few years of reading about and working with the app(s).
First, Fleetsafer...because Fleetsafer was a much earlier product.
Fleetsafer developed from a 2011 product, Zoomsafer. In 2012, Aegis purchased Zoomsafer for an undisclosed amount of $. They merged with their OBD technology to create Fleetsafer. In 2013, they were the first DD app to cross platforms for all devices, introducing the industry’s first safe driving solution for Apple’s iOS that provides policy enforcement. That year, they also won Frost & Sullivan’s 2013 Customer Value Leadership Award for Distracted Driving Solutions. Aegis became Cogosense Technology Inc. Aegis had patented their integrated OBD technology (in as far as the method used to communicate with electronic devices from the vehicle and use that info to provide policy enforcement on the device). What made Zoomsafer unique was a SaaS platform for full reporting features. Software as a service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the Internet.

Cogosense is a small tech company in Canada that specializes in app development. They have marketed Fleetsafer to businesses and fleet managers to the tune of about $1 mil sales annually.

Fleetsafer uses OBD integration technology with the vehicle (can also function as software only using GPS technology if desired), and a cloud based platform for full reporting features. Because of this admin portal hosting, Fleetsafer's model was built on a monthly recurring charge to maintain margins. The beacon price would vary, based on the company fleet size and other factors, while the monthly hosting fee would typically be $5 or $6 per fleet vehicle.
REPORTING PORTAL
Comprehensive Analytics and Reporting: Customized reports and real-time
alerts on usage, policy conformance and infractions.
Dashboards and Drill-down: Dashboards chart the frequency of distracting events while driving. Drill down to examine the details of each driver’s trips and events and plot them on maps.
Easy Data Export: Data can be exported for analysis using other tools.
Application Programming Interface: Reporting APIs enable integration with existing corporate reporting systems.

On November 4, 2016 On4Communications (ONCI) announced it was acquiring a 49% equity/ownership stake in Family Mobile Safety (FMS) Marketing - Cogosense. CEO, Steve Berman's intention was to market a new version of Fleetsafer targeted to the individual, but provide the same vehicle OBD integration and a cloud based admin portal. On November 7, 2016, Cogosense Technology announces the release of bSafeMobile, a distracted driving system for families and small businesses.

The bSafemobile model was built on free cloud access, with a higher price for the beacon technology itself. This model has some hidden value for the company. The admin portal is 'free' which gives full control to the host company and offers the future opportunity to serve up ads and other 'value added' products.

bSafeMobile is a relatively new app. It's tech goes back to the original Aegis apps, but the product itself is fairly new to market...around 18 months now.
The bsafemobile app has several benefits over competition:
One, it allows for both a software controlled system (GPS based) and a hardware controlled (OBD integration).
Two, it provides a cloud based portal for full reporting (tattletale features).
Three, it crosses all platforms and is not proprietary to a particular device or carrier (think AT&T, Apple, etc).
There are some added benefits to this technology. The beacon utilized works for both Fleetsafer and for bsafemobile apps (I've personally tested that). It also will work with other apps under development by Cogosense Tech. All under the protection of the defendable patents - OBD communication method with electronic devices. bFoundMobile, a Geolocation App, is an example of cross technology with the same hardware device. Once someone purchases the beacon, they could potentially open themselves up to future offered apps and hosting platforms.
In Sept 2017, On4 bought out the 51 percent remaining ownership with partner COGOSENSE LLC.
Cogosense is currently still working on new app technology. As with the app market, some will fall flat, while others could be a huge success. One that I am particularly excited about is the 'child safety seat' app. An app that can detect whether a child is still 'onboard' and send a signal to a cell phone. The app can potentially monitor vehicle temperature and seat occupancy. In case you need to be told, this is huge. The market here is tremendous...of course, all IMO.
Be the judge if you think this product warrants an investment or not.
