Showbots like these are always "tethered." Quick, high confidence level facial reco requires cloud AI for prompt recognition from thousands of "retail" customers to be identified. No reason to do onboard due to CPU count/clock needed and power to run. Literally hundreds of firms "doing" facial reco, so easy to license, buy, lease, etc.
