They likely use VPNs if there are actually people using multiple accounts for nefarious activities.
Wikipedia VPNs and TOR if you're interested. They can use an IP from anywhere in the world and be essentially untraceable. If there are actually bad actors working for big firms they're either safe and sound offshore or they are using these technologies. Or they're stupid.
