'Our Rights and Freedoms Are Not Up for Debate'

CRTV host and U.S. Army combat veteran Graham Allen said Wednesday that the rights and freedoms of American citizens are not to be questioned.
Allen said on "Fox and Friends" that although those freedoms aren't up for debate, he sees no issue in working to "improve" the existing laws.
His comments come after an op-ed by retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens said "March For Our Lives" participants should seek a repeal of the Second Amendment.
"When you start having discussions that take away, that's when you're going down the wrong path," Allen said.
In his piece, Stevens said a repeal of the amendment would "make our schoolchildren safer than they have been since 2008 and honor the memories of the many, indeed far too many, victims of recent gun violence."
President Donald Trump quickly commented on the piece, tweeting that the right to bear arms will in "no way" be repealed.

THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!

Allen noted that many gun control advocates argue that the nation's founders would never have foreseen the type of weaponry available for purchase nowadays. He asked whether that same line of thinking would also apply to the First Amendment.
"Surely the Founding Fathers didn't know we would have newspapers, internet, blogs, Twitter, Facebook, mass distributions of technology. So maybe your First Amendment rights should be talked about as well. It's a very dangerous thing we're doing right now," he said.
