The Albanian government has approved concession contracts worth 504.8 billion ALL. Meanwhile, for the year 2018, eight new concession contracts have been envisaged, bringing the total value of existing concessions to 661,594,257,243 ALL. The figure is bigger than 5 billion euros. The respective list of concessionary or public-private partnerships (PPPs) has been processed by Open Data Albania.
According to the list published by the Ministry of Finance, there are 223 concession contracts. The sector with the highest share of contracts in value is Energy, with 75 percent of the total value of 185 contracts worth ALL 379.4 billion, including HECs. The second sector is Transport, with 7% of total value with All 37.5 billion. The Health Sector is the third sector. All contracts of this sector are with budget support.
The Tax and Customs Sector has a concessional bill of 28.1 billion ALL, while the Environment sector has signed contracts worth ALL 25.4 billion.
The Agriculture Sector is the least weighted sector in terms of the concession bill of only 1.9 million ALL with a contract for olive cultivation up to 1,000 ha in Kavaja.
For the year 2018 8 new concession contracts are foreseen: construction with concession of 17 schools in the Municipality of Tirana; construction, operation of Fier Regional Hospital; Concession Building for these projects: Construction and Operation of the Tirana-Thumanë-Vora Axis; Construction and Operation of Kardhiq - Delvina Street; Construction and Operation of Kashar - Rrogozhina Street; Construction and Operation of Milot - Balldren Street; Construction and Operation of Orikum - Himara Street; Construction and Operation of the Arbr Road.
