An awful lot of people follow the TERRIBLE advice that the financial media puts out, to have stops.
In stocks like this, all it does is give the market makers the ability to steal from you in the way that is most efficient for them.
Some traders that I know said they saw the stock drop, assumed that the news had come out and was bad, and sold at market.
What can you do? Like you say, if people don't do enough research in the company, they are going to be vulnerable. The people I feel sorry for are the inexperienced new investors who think that Cramer and all those people who write books are giving them good "rules" to follow. Instead they have been given a ticket to trading hell.
