OT.........Boodog......thanks for the post. As some of you know, my wife has stage 3c breast cancer. The surgery post chemo treatments revealed that the chemo treatments didn't do as much as they were expecting or hoped for. We met with the oncologist last week and after 5 weeks of daily radiation starting next month and an hormone drug which she would take daily for 10 years, she bought up two new drug option treatments. The first is xeloda taken daily for 2 weeks followed by 1 week off for 8 cycles or a new experimental drug that will be in clinical trials at UC Davis for either 1 or 2 years. As you can see from your link, xeloda has numerous side effects. We are not sure yet on the side effects of this experimental drug but she would have a 50% chance of getting the placebo. I just don't understand with life threatening conditions why patients are given a placebo. The bottom line is that when I asked the oncologist which option she would choose for herself or family member, her response was it was up to my wife. Needless to say, I left her office very frustrated. Lastly, a couple of you have provided a few alternative therapies which we intend to use in conjunction with the above.
