Prurisol doesn't even need to be AS effective as O

The safety profile of Prurisol is much better. It's cheaper to manufacture (it's not a biologic). We don't know for sure, but we THINK that you don't have to take Prurisol every day -- because once the disease is in remission, it's possible that you can stop taking it.
You don't have to have BETTER efficacy to be approved, although obviously that's what we'd like to see. But a drug with fewer side effects, that works for even just 40 or 50% of people, would be approvable.
Doctors like to start with the drugs that have the fewest side effects, and then use increasingly dangerous drugs if the milder drugs don't work. So if Prurisol helped only half of the people, good doctors would prescribe it FIRST, in case it worked for the patient, and didn't cause those pesky side effects like cancer and auto-immune diseases (which some of the biologics can cause).
