There's simple wishful thinking and then there's wishful thinking born from willful ignorance.
Already done, that's what plea deals DO. Higher ups are convicted all the time because of such deals. The evidence they provide still need to be corroborated by other evidence to attain a conviction.
Is it possible that you never watched a police procedural TV show or movie? Or did your ADD kick in each time a cop, DA or U.S. Attorney said to a perp, "you're going to have to give me more than that for a reduction in charges."
