I continue to be guilty of over optimism, but I struggle to envision that IPIX wont get there. Yes there is still chance of failure in phase 3, especially if they are changing the formulation from rinse to sachets. BUT thanks to our long time DD posers we know that the risk of failure exponentially decreases the further along a drug progresses. Plus given all the other indications of B and demonstrations of efficacy I think our risk is very low though. We may just be looking at the risk of having to package and ship B-OM as a liquid with higher costs rather than boxed up in packets. So in that case it will IPIX (and partner) will not be able to maximize as much profit margin, but I think IPIX is sitting on a massive winner either way.
My only real concern at this point is not the science but the business side of biotech. I worry about the balance of holding out on an offer for a value justified by the caliber of IPIX's drugs with inking a less than perfect deal to get the funding to expedite the remaining trials and get to market. I believe IPIX's portfolio is and will be world class, but that doesn't stop competition and marketing. We all know that the world is unfair, biased, and that even an inferior drug which wins the race to approval and gets marketed properly (or peddled by bribes to doctors and hospitals in a lot of cases) can become a market leader. Just by having the superior drugs doesn't necessarily mean we will win.
My $0.02. I hope everyone who celebrates St. Patty's day has a fun and safe time. I know I plan to see the bottom of a bottle of good Irish Whiskey this weekend!!
