I am still confused how someone is avoiding showing up on

I am still confused how someone is avoiding showing up on the L2 but still managing hold control of the ask. It shows on the time/sales as an ask but then when shares are bought at that price it shows as a wash trade, never showing up as a bid in the recorder. I have seen similar but they are usually just blips and you can figure out who did it. In the past on the bid was a sign of unloading on the ask was a sign of loading. I have no idea what this actually is but either way I look forward to the partnership announcement soon!
