Delusional White House Claims Conor Lamb’s Upset Victory Is Great News For Trump

"The president’s engagement in the race turned what was a deficit for the Republican candidate to what is essentially a tie," the White House deputy press secretary said.

Clearly having learned no lesson from Conor Lamb’s (D-PA) stunning victory on Tuesday, the delusional White House is now claiming the upset win is actually good news for the president.

According to the administration, Donald Trump is the reason the race was “essentially a tie” instead of a runaway victory for the Democrat. They also said Lamb’s success was due to the fact that he “embraced the president’s policies.”

“The president’s engagement in the race turned what was a deficit for the Republican candidate to what is essentially a tie,” said Raj Shah, Trump’s deputy press secretary, according to The Hill.

“Also the Democrat in the race really embraced the president’s policies and his vision whereas he didn’t really embrace Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader,” he added.

In no universe is Conor Lamb’s victory good news for Trump and Republicans

As has been widely reported, Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district went for Trump by nearly 20 points in 2016. Contrary to what the president’s deputy press secretary spewed on Wednesday, a year of Trump’s presidency turned that advantage upside down.

What’s worse news for the White House and its Republican allies in Congress is that, all across the country, there are GOP lawmakers defending their seats in districts far less conservative than the one Lamb was able to win on Tuesday. In other words, if Democrats can win in Pennsylvania’s 18th district, they can win in a lot of places Republicans thought they had in the bag.

The American people are sick of watching spineless Republican lawmakers sit on their hands as the Trump dumpster fire continues to burn. They want a Congress that will hold this corrupt and incompetent president accountable.

Conor Lamb’s victory on Tuesday was not an isolated incident. It’s the continuation of what is a building blue wave that has the potential to hand Congress – especially the House of Representatives – back to the Democrats.
