It's been 30 years time since I have had a taste of a homemade cake. I baked a cake 4 or 5 months ago, but it was store bought (Dunkin' Hines) and store bought icing. After two bites, I opened my trash can and dumped it. It was the worst cake I had ever tasted.
I do make a mean Apple Pie from scratch though. After surgery a few years ago, I was confined to my house and decided to bake an apple pie. I baked 14 of them trying to bake the perfect pie. Thirteen family, friends and neighbors which came to see me were all appreciative to leave with 7/8's of a pie.
