Yeah, I remember how startled I was as I crossed the Mississippi from MN into SD;. something not quite right. Hit me after a few miles, no f*ckin' trees!
Anyway, 'lead foot' all the way to Mt. Rushmore.
Stopped at the then named 'Custer Battlefield in SO. MT too.
Now it's the Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument.
I remember in the museum I was looking at the artifacts, arrow heads, rifles, saddles in the display. I noticed two Native Americans....Injuns and casinoless in 1980.....down a few yards from me.
A father and his son it looked like to me.
Couldn't quite hear the father, but I imagined him saying "that was a good day for us son. Last one, but a good one".
