If we went back to last year's Wall St. Conference, most in attendance there I believe felt certain that we'd have the cream on sale before now and the guidance seemed to be, after the safety trial, which originally was scheduled for last July, as I remember it. Hirsch's latest remarks lead to them waiting until after efficacy is demonstrated in Phase 2, which without slippage will be late this year.
Realistically, I believe we need to anticipate some slippage, but I believe we'd be well served if at this time next year we saw data showing the cream worked very well in psoriasis, and perhaps other skin diseases. If that's the case, the question might become, could the sublingual tablet be first on the market.
I ask the question not because the cream won't be through Phase 2 first, but rather because if the fibromyalgia Phase 1 is being done with patients who have the disease, if efficacy is seen in that trial, could it lead to making that product available even sooner. In that we've not seen the trial, but if it's being done with patients with fibromyalgia, I would think that it would be a Phase 1/2 Trial meaning that after an effective dose rate was established, several additional patients could be added at that dose in what amounts to a small Phase 2 Trial. If all that is successful, then the question is, would they put it in the marketplace.
I certainly don't know, but I do know their guidance says they're taking a dual path, the longer path going for full drug approval, while the shorter path puts product in cannabis stores far sooner. The only real question is how much do they need to see before they'll put it in the cannabis store's.
I believe their could be several other catalysts this year, but they'll be about marketing rights in specific places in the world either for specific products, of for everything they develop over some period of time.
I certainly don't know, but I have a feeling that California will be happening in a matter of months, and we must remember, by itself, California is the world's 6th largest economy in the world.
