One can not contest that a lawyer wishes to be included in ANY dialog peculiar to a business. The time duration is irrelevant; once a lawyer says "This is the best advice I can and will give you concerning questions about your business: ALWAYS CHECK WITH A LAWYER BEFORE YOU RESPOND.
Most likely you were handed a decades old load of Factual BS. It was bought and paid for long before the issue you questioned was even in place with the company.
