Investors in many stocks have to wonder what is motivating them to stay with a stock EVEN AFTER IT HAS DONE NOTHING or worse LOST VALUE over the time of ownership. Does the stock become like an old shirt that is 'just there' and you are comfortable with it? OR, are you being manipulated??? How could this be and HOW would it be done?
Should one speculate? Is there a possibility that a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT is on its way? Could there possibly be some INCREDIBLE NEWS that will unequivocally state that PRODUCTION and PROFIT are underway at the company's Number 1 location???? Is there GOLD in 'them thar Hills'????!!!!!!
I am certain that there are many of you reading this that get it /OR/ think you get it. Yes, the capitalized words are part of the puzzle. Do they jump out and grab you and make you more curious? Do the words excite you and make you want to spend a few dollars JUST to see if you become rich in a hurry? Has a basic feeling of greed replaced your common sense?
Welcome to Advertising 101. If you watch any TV, you will have seen the hundreds of ads that tell you to 'ACT FAST' because the opportunity might not be here in 10 more minutes!!! One of my favorites is the 'LIMITED NUMBER' of widgets that will be produced....ya gotta get in now or you will lose out!!!! Another method to get you hooked is to announce that something could possibly happen AND that the WORLD will be the MARKET for just a few of this POTENTIALLY VALUABLE widgets. Sometime in the past year so, many investors purchased the SILVER KRUGGERAND NGR70 SP (or other rated) COIN at a premium price....BIG BUCKS!!! Why? A little has to do with the name. A lot has to do with the belief that its 'limited production' would dramatically increase the value of the coin over a very short period of time. Bottom line: One MILLION coins were minted. The UNRATED coins were sold for about $30 to $50 each. Those that carried a '70' rating were/are going for around $120 to $140 each. Think about it....ONE OUNCE of SILVER is worth around $17 in today's market yet people will pay almost EIGHT TIMES the metal value to have something 1) That may be worth an unknown value in 10 or 20 or XXX years /OR/ 2) It goes nicely with my coin collection (I was told it is RARE!!!).
The 'investors' MAY realize that they were manipulated into buying a 'rare' product that 'everyone' wants. Now they have something!!!! Maybe now EVERYONE is starting to understand that once the item is purchased, one can make all types of statements that justify the purchase BUT the Bottom Line is that, TO A DEGREE, you allowed yourself to be manipulated.
Each time a company issues a Press Release, the message is 'We are still here'. If the Press Releases are few and far in between, the investors MAY be both curious and angry BUT both sentiments are directed TOWARDS the company. When the company releases additional information, the anger may subside BUT the investor MAY become more curious about what is happening with the company. If the company value increases (stock value), the investor/share holder is pleased and MAY purchase more shares. If the company value decreases (stock value) the share holder may sell or, more than likely, hold onto the stock IF the financial loss is not too great. The shareholder/investors MAY choose to buy additional shares at the lower rate because the company may suggest that it may issue another MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT that could have potentially INCREDIBLE NEWS because PROFIT and PRODUCTION may be just around the corner IF the investor can hold on just a little longer.
Do you get it now?
