Tucker Carlson ripped Broward County, Fla. Sheriff Scott Israel for what he considered his "ineptitude and arrogance" in handling the Florida school shooting.
Carlson said Israel and his department all but ignored "red flags" about shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz.
He said Israel, a Democrat, has a "distinguished record of exceptional ineptitude and arrogance."
Carlson said Israel's department adopted an initiative championed by President Barack Obama and his attorney general at the time, Eric Holder, that sought to end the "school-to-prison-pipeline."
Under the program, Israel's department cut down on schoolyard arrests in favor of enforcing scholastic disciplinary measures.
Carlson said that if the program hadn't been instituted, Cruz may have been arrested instead of disciplined during one of his run-ins with administrators, and therefore unable to purchase a gun.
He said Israel previously used tax money to "build a political machine" and made sweeping statements when challenged about it.
Carlson said Israel compared himself to legendary Miami Dolphins Coach Don Shula and President Abraham Lincoln.
"Lions don't care about the opinions of sheep," Israel said according to Carlson.
Carlson said "stable people" wouldn't act or talk the way Israel does.
