lol, I guess my Mom managed to raise me to be generous when talking about others. Some of our friends over there are as you describe. Others are a bit more sophisticated and use grains of truth or technical info. Some of them actually put forth legitimate concerns but put the most negative slant on it possible to guide their narrative.
The latter are the ones that I end up going back and forth with. The nagging ones I simply don't respond to.
