Following the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, a sheriff in Ohio is offering free gun training to teachers.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones wrote on Twitter on Sunday that he will offer a concealed and a carry class, along with training on school shootings.
I am going to offer free concealed and Carry class free 2 teachers in butler county. Limited number. Details coming soon on line. Also training on school shootings.
On "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday, Jones revealed that he's received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of teachers expressing interest in the training.
"In Ohio, you can carry a concealed carry in the schools if the school board allows you to do that," Jones said. "We're starting the training next week. We're going to have 50 to a class, and we're leading by example."
He said he's also received calls from around the country from people inquiring about these classes and how they can implement a similar program in their communities.
Jones explained that Congress cannot be relied upon to solve this problem, so it's up to law enforcement and citizens to take action.
