Costco will test some units in some stores before distributing storewide. That's the experience I've had with them.
Almost 30 years ago my company tried selling lighting items at Costco. Took us six months to get in and shipped two stores stocking orders. They hung our sample light fixture on the rack and then we waited. After one month we did not sell even one unit. We asked Costco what the issue was, it it was price related. They didn't know but said they would keep selling the units for two more weeks. We immediately decided to visit the stores and guess what we found? Both of our stocking order were not even on display, they were still buried in the warehouse yet to be moved into the store. So we had no sales because there was no product on display for customers to choose from. Once the product got moved out into the stores we sold about half the units in two weeks but from a reporting standpoint all Costco cared about was that we had sold XX units in six weeks and we were out because we didn't meet their internal sales goals even though it was their fault.
So what happens when you sell your 2-4 BSafe or Fleetsaver units and there is no inventory to fill additional orders immediately? If you have empty space for a week you will have pretty much lost your space forever.
Maybe when the third or 4th generation is available can the company blow out it's 2nd generation units.
