While we wait, this read was posted today on Yahoo. While it is off topic it speaks to the kind of thinking we are up against and you must understand
BABA is on the big board. I wonder how many of the shares shorted against BABA actually exist. I would bet the stock lender whether it be GS or BOA or whomever lent the same shares to multiple borrowers. This presents a great example of why T+0 is needed. So in this case even though shares are being borrowed it does not mean all the shares borrowed exist.
The real reason "traders" are shorting alibaba? Because they can!
