for Downplaying MS-13 Threat < >
Tucker Carlson took aim at liberals - including MSNBC's Joy Reid - for their harsh criticism of President Trump's State of the Union address.
Following the speech, Reid downplayed the threat of the transnational gang MS-13, intimating that it's only an issue among people who watch Fox News.
"He gives a speech tonight, in which he makes it sound like the biggest issue in the United States, the biggest threat is MS-13, a gang nobody that doesn't watch Fox News has ever heard of. So he makes it sound like they're the biggest threat," she said.
In a tweet, Reid blasted Trump for attempting to reinforce "the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism" by expressing support for things like the national anthem, the military and police officers.

Church ... family ... police ... military ... the national anthem ... Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism. The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for. #SOTU

"We don't want to think the left really believes any of this, but we're starting to suspect they really do," said Carlson.
He asked how Trump can be considered anti-immigrant for going after MS-13, since so many of the gang's victims are actually other immigrants.
"Most Americans consider [church, family, police, military and love of country] the pillars of our civilization. Imagine a society without those things. ... Would you want to live there? Joy Reid would, so would many of her MSNBC co-anchors, her Harvard classmates and apparently most of the Democratic caucus," he said.

Dem members refused to stand or clap when Trump praised the nat'l anthem, military vets, low black unemployment...What's going on here? What if Dems actually don't like those things any more? What if praising our vets or our flag really does enrage the modern left? #Tucker

Carlson said the criticism from Reid and other liberals is "nihilism, the mindless impulse to tear down what you did not build."
"This isn't a philosophy, it's a sickness."
