The statement that "X number of shares were short sales" simply means exactly that. I have listed different categories of what those sales are, but we do NOT have access to anyone's trading plans or profit or loss. So trying to impute hypothetical gain/loss scenarios to these trades is an exercise in futility.
I have asked you on more than one occasion to post a statement that you would like Alan to include in his FINRA number posts, that would address your concerns about possible misinterpretation of the statistic.
