Former secret service agent Dan Bongino ripped the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee over his drumbeat of criticisms against Republicans.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Republicans are attacking individual controversial federal agents because they are "too desperate to distract attention from the Russia probe."
Bongino said Schiff was responding to critiques by Republicans that there is damning information against federal employees and the Obama administration in the "FISA memo."
The memo reportedly offers details surrounding the federal surveillance of Trump campaign officials.
Schiff told Blitzer that Republicans are trying to "put the federal government on trial" and intentionally making "scandalous accusations."
Schiff has lied about this memo multiple times now. He's deliberately manipulating the American public," Bongino said.
"This guy is the slimiest of the slimy in the swamp. How disgusting," Bongino said of the Framingham, Massachusetts native.
Bongino said Schiff previously claimed Russian Twitter-bots were promoting the Republicans' efforts, then claimed the memo's release would be "interference" by President Trump.
"This is nonsense. Trump has constitutional rights too... The government was unleashed on him during the Obama years," he said.
