Tuesday December 18, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA. Punch TV (OTCQB NCH)
With a roster of TV shows and films that is made notable by the fact that the work is 70% original, Punch TV, one of America’s newest networks matches and, in some cases, surpasses, the level of original programming of the nation’s leading networks. “How is this possible for a new network?” is a question that is immediately asked upon hearing this ratio. Punch TV views itself as the personification of independent television,” says Joseph Collins, Punch TV’s President and Founder. “As a result, we identify highly talented actors, producers, directors, and writers, and we create new films, dramatic and comedic TV series, talk shows, reality shows, and variety shows.”
“We have an eye for talent,” adds Steve Samblis, Punch TV’s CEO.
The proof of these two executive’s words can be seen starting on Christmas Day, 2012 in the widely acclaimed film, DJANGO UNCHAINED . Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and Executive-produced by Shannon McIntosh, Michael Shamberg, James W. Skotchdopole, Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein, this film also includes the up-and-coming actor, Escalante Lundy, a man with a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and a second Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems until he was infected with the desire to act by playing a role in Punch TV’s currently playing movie of the week, Road to Damascus .
“Yes, we knew that Escalante was a high ranking employee with CalTrans, that he was a doctoral student at a European University, but we saw talent in him and cast him as a hit man,” says Sid Burston and Ross Jordan, two of the heads of Punch TV’s original Production Division.
Apparently, the talent implicit to this late entrant to entertainment was also seen my Mr. Quentin Tarantino who cast Escalante as Big Fred in Django Unchained opening in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as slave-owner Calvin Candie, and Jamie Foxx as Django, Punch TV’s Escalante Lundy plays a supporting role as Big Fred, a gentle, nonviolent giant. Big Fred is reluctantly forced to participate in Mr. Candie’s fight-to-the-death entertainment system. Vocalizing his opposition, Escalante will leave viewers tearful as he delivers his heartfelt monologue. Escalante is also scheduled to play the role of Abel Lissete in Punch TV’s second story in its EROS series – Lessons on Love From a Plain Jane Woman. A true story, Lessons on Love captures elements of Punch TV’s President, Joseph Collins’ rags-to-riches story while delivering a message to females that true love is available to all women independently of their physical appearances. Django Unchained opens in theaters this Friday. EROS: Lessons on Love From a Plain Jane Woman will air this spring on Punch TV.
